According to Vanguard, the suspect reportedly connived with one Lekan Lawal, to commit the crime at Imosan Area of Ijebu Ode Local Government Area of the state.
Odubela alongside Lawal strangled Amudat and then severed her hand and head which they later sold to his son who is a herbalist. When interrogated, Odubela who was paraded at the state police command yesterday, said it was the deceased's mother that asked that she should be killed because she was always stealing her money.
"It is true that Lekan Lawal and I connived to kill my step-daughter. The girl was 16 years old. She was always stealing her mother’s money. And the mother said we should kill her as a sacrifice for the other children she had. Since she normally slept at the door post outside, at 12 midnight, I invited Lekan Lawal. He held the girl by the neck and strangled her while I held her legs. That was how she died.”When interrogated, the mother of the deceased denied the allegation that she consented to her daughter being killed.
She said she had five children from her previous marriage before marrying Odubela. She said indeed her daughter's character was dissatisfactory but she never instructed that she should be killed.
The police say both men would soon be charged to court
