ENVIROMENTAL TASK FORCE SEALED PREMISES IN OTA

Officers of the Environmental Sanitation Task Force Zone A, stormed Sango and Ilo-Awela Toll gate area of Ota on Wednesday 16th November 2016, sealing off business and residential premises on both sides of the ever busy Ilo Awela road. The reason for their action according to sources was the indiscriminate dumping of refuse on the road by residence of the area.

However many residence of the area came out to protest the action of the task force saying; the dumping of refuse on the road was caused by the failure of government to provide appropriate dump sites coupled with the fact that the Local Government refuse removal truck are seen only once in a week.
A residence of Ilo-Awela area identified as Mr Ola who spoke to our correspondence was of the opinion that the action of the task force was wrong saying there was no warning before taking the action. According to him; ''the refuse were much today because people decided to put them out awaiting their trucks that usually pick them up on Thursdays during the weekly environmental sanitation''.
He further challenge the environmental sanitation authority at the Local government level to be alive to their responsibility and ensure that do come out regularly to pick up the refuse.
Attempt to speak with the task force officials were refuted.

The task force officials were still seen around sealing more premises as this morning Thursday 17th November 2016 during the weekly environmental sanitation exercise. this action we believe will send the needed signals to all residence within and around Ota for them to take the issues of sanitation very seriously and put a stop to the indiscriminate dumping on our roads.
