The Chairman Ado-Odo/Ota
Local Government Hon. (Prince) Bashiru Oladele Adeniji and his team are set
to launch a campaign on cleanliness of our environment. This campaign is coming
on the heels of the recent clampdown on
some premises by officers the Ogun State Environmental Sanitation Task Force
You will recall that the Enviromatal Task Force were in Ota
in the course of the week, where they seal off some premises. This action was
met with protest and restrictions from many residence (this almost
degenerated but for the timely intervention of the Local Government Chairman)
claiming that they were not properly informed about the waste disposal policy
of the government and that refuse disposal trucks do not come to pick their refuse often as they should.
The chairman who spoke to our correspondence in office on Friday, said his administration will take environmental sanitation as a major task and efforts are in the pipeline to launch an intensive campaign and sensitization
on the issues of making our environment clean and how to dispose off refuse
without creating frictions with the necessary authorities. He explained that the sensitization campaign will be done in English, Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa language
as well as in pidgin recognizing noting that Ota is a multi-ethnic community hence the need to carry everybody along.
Hon Adeniji enjoined all residence of Ota to be peaceful and law
abiding, he urge everyone to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse as he
promised to strengthen Sanitation department in the Local Government and
position it for effective service delivery .
